Piglet
As a puppy you lay in my lap & slept Whilst I read The Great Gatsby, & at the end when I wept You nuzzled your face up under my chin Confused & upset by the state I was in. You always made sadness impossible for long, And now, when I need you the most you're gone. There's a new grave outside between the trees, Sheltered from the sun & all but the gentlest breeze, Just how we liked it, soulmates all the years, I'm lost & alone now & you can't dry my tears. The stars have ceased shining. The sun's turned to brass And my aching heart has shattered like glass. You can't fill the void, stem the pain deep inside That appeared when you left me, the moment you died. Abi Muir Region: OxfordshireYear of passing: 2008 |
